two sides of one man!
May. 21st, 2008 11:00 pmDearest fellow Hydeologists,
we've seen Hyde with L'Arc, shaking his booty and looking totally vibrant, and we've seen him letting out his inner angst beast on stage while solo.
My question for you guys is: which side of Hyde do you think is the most representative of him? The silly, more feminine lead singer or the masculine rock star? Just one, or both?

Date: 2008-05-22 03:49 am (UTC)I've talked with the Black List Club members before and they told me Hyde was very quiet and kept to himself. I've also recently had someone else tell me that he's quiet and to himself.
So if we're talking about 'real' Hyde then neither? Or maybe L'Arc!hyde since he seems more tame?
But if we're talking about stage Hyde then I would think that solo HYDE would be more him since he can do whatever he wants. He doesn't have to worry about the bands image, he's free to be himself.
And now that I think of it, maybe both. I'm sure he doesn't have a static personality and both sides shine every now and then.
Edit: Ah, sorry for having like 3 answers in one post. I can't make up my mind.

Date: 2008-05-22 04:20 am (UTC)I didn't get much because they were questioning ME about Hyde. They didn't really know who he was.
They pretty much just said that Hyde was very quiet and kept to himself. They didn't really talk to him at all, but his staff was nice.
And that's all I got, sorry. I tried asking them more questions but they weren't cooperating. They were too busy going on about how I flew across the country to see him. They were so awed.
And yeah, I always see him as quiet also. In some interviews he's done he seems very soft spoken so I always got the impression that he just stuck to himself. And from what I've heard this is correct.

Date: 2008-05-22 04:34 am (UTC)So after the concert I got to meet them and figured I'd squeeze any info I could out of them.
Though, I kind of got the feeling they didn't want to talk about Hyde. But too bad.

Date: 2008-05-22 04:48 am (UTC)The other guys seemed nicer and more casual but the singer seemed like he had this "I am the great awesome rockstar and you are the adoring fan" attitude. I never like that kind of attitude but especially from an artist who isn't even famous.
And they suck at answering questions. When I was speaking to them they would half-answer then change the subject. And I asked them questions on myspace and they replied but didnt' really answer the question. Just gave the generic "oh it was fun, thanks for the support" type response.

Date: 2008-05-22 05:04 am (UTC)And that comment..eh, that just..doesn't seem like something you'd say to someone you just met. I know that he was just joking but at the time I watched it I got the feeling he was just being a bitch and using the joke as a cover. Since he's so cocky and all.
But anyway..on the size issue..we all know that isn't true. Hyde could beat him any day. XD That other guy (Evan or something?) was just jealous.

Date: 2008-05-22 11:26 am (UTC)I think it's actually the other way around, HYDE stated in last years Hydeist times that Laruku was chaos because they didn't really have an "image" and he was free to do whatever 8D.
He established his solos as "rock" though, at least the last two albums, so there's acutally more of an "image" regarding his solo.
I kind of do think that-since laruku!hydehas been around for 17 years- laruku!hyde already displays all sides are representative of whim, from True Hyde to REAL hyde, from Tierra Hyde to AWAKE Hyde from smashing the micstand at "Shout at the Devil" to pretty pretty ghey dancing at "Caress of Venus".
I think it's all there.
I think stage!hyde is a big part of private!hyde.
I srsly get the impression through all the interviews and reading his personal blog through the years that there isn't really a wall that divides Hyde from Hideto Takarai.
I think private!Hyde is everything that stage!Hyde is and a lot more: a daddy, a husband and a manger of his own label.

Date: 2008-05-23 08:36 am (UTC)If you're asking which side of him really is him, then I'd say both. If he does have the tendency to show both sides, then I guess he has both.
But I think his "masculine rock star" side is love. xDD His "feminine lead singer" side is just adorable.
Makes him more interesting don't you think? :3

Date: 2008-07-29 10:25 pm (UTC)I know when I was in theater, I loved being able to play characters that were a piece of me, but not the whole me. It let me use different parts of my personality without letting anyone get any closer to me than I really wanted them to. When you perform, you are able to take a piece of you and exaggerate it beyond what it would normally be, play with it and have fun with it, but know you can put it away and be you when it's all said and done. I think many performers do this, I think it is necessary to keeping your sanity as a performer in this world. I think the ones who lack this ability are the ones who lose it and turn into the sad train wrecks.
So, I guess I think whatever he chooses to show us is him, but not the whole him. Put together all the sides he has shown, and you'll get closer, but still not there. The only way to see his entire personality would be to have the opportunity to become one of his best friends. Sadly, I think that is not my fate, and so I will have to just enjoy what pieces I am given.
