I have a question (obviously), and it's been bothering me every time I see Hyde with a guitar in his hands.

Hydeologists, what would you rate Hyde's p'unk guitar-playing, overall? Is he average? Is he just embarrassing himself? Can he compare to any of the guitarists in other bands?

...Aaaaand that's it xD Opinions would be very much appreciated!

I think that overall, Hyde is a good guitar player. Not the best but good.

Agreed. He's not exactly a guitar god, but he's definitely more than capable of holding his own. And better than some 'actual' guitarists that are out there.

if we're talking specifically p'unk, well... in the past, the arrangements were a lot 'simpler,' rawer, with more shredding (i believe that's the right term...), and he could certainly hold his own. the more recent p'unk songs have more ambitious arrangements... if you compare the Theater of KISS guitar p'unk guitar to the recorded version of either of those songs... he's clearly bluffing his way through them to an extent. ^_^;;;; i wouldn't say he's embarrassing himself, though i'm sure ken gets a good chuckle out of it (once he recovers from all the drumming). comparing to other bands... well... there's a reason he wanted KAZ for his solo project, and it's not all fanfic fantasy.

but he well knows his limitations, and he can still play well enough to make a good sound on stage. he's not lead guitar material, but then, he doesn't need to be.

Hm, I like he would be a 5. He is definitely not the best guitar player out there but he is pretty good. I sure do love to see him play~ It makes me all squealy XD ^^ <3

Hyde definitely isn't as bad as he himself thinks he is XD But well how would you feel with THE ken kitamura in your band hahahaha

I'm recalling that he said something about saying one of his arms being not as strong as the other because of the accident where he also got that big scar on his neck and that it kind of sucks when he plays the guitar.

As [livejournal.com profile] trixie_chick said, the P'UNK arrangements have become more ambitious and at the lives I saw I was quite impressed by his solos. He's definitely working his way up there.

Of course you have to take into account that p'UNK is all about not being serious.
They are really just a big parody and they know it themselves but that's how it is supposed to be.

I would give him a 6 on a scale from 1-10, 10 being the best.
